Esmaeil Bagheri, is the father of Parvin and Mehrdad Bagheri, who were both executed in Ahwaz, in 1988. The officials showed him this area as the burial site of his daughter, son and dozens of other prisoners.

Esmaeil Bagheri’s efforts to preserve the mass grave continued until his death in 2015. In the photo above, he is seen observing Nowruz (Iranian New Year) at the mass grave site.
