Diário de Notícias, the Portuguese daily tabloid newspaper, wrote about a report jointly published by Justice for Iran and Amnesty International on the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran. Justice for Iran has identified over 120 mass graves across Iran containing the remains of victims. The reliable testimonies, photographic and video evidence as well as satellite imagery indicate that the authorities have taken various actions to destroy or damage seven mass grave sites.
It is estimated that about 5000 individuals were executed during the massacre. Some of the perpetrators of the crime are still alive and hold positions in the Islamic regime.
