Zanjan, the Upper Cemetery

In the summer of 1988, nearly 40 political male prisoners were executed at Zanjan prison, located on the ring road near the city.

Neither the corpses nor the location of their burial sites were given to the families of prisoners executed in Zanjan. Some of the survivors believe all 30 to 40 prisoners were buried in a mass grave in the upper cemetery, and later covered by cement.

Unconfirmed reports indicate new graves have been dug over this mass grave, and that there is currently no trace of this grave or the cement that had previously covered the upper cemetery of Zanjan.

To see the exact location of the mass grave, you need to zoom in.
