Rudsar, Shohada Boulevard
Families believe the mass graves of political prisoners at Rudsar, executed during the 1988 massacres, are buried near the coast on Shohada Boulevard near Azad Islamic University, at that time totally vacant. Since then, security agents have prevented the families of the executed prisoners from gathering and mourning in this place.
According to some locals, at the beginning of the revolution this land was used to bury those killed by stoning.
In the mid-2000s, the Municipality turned this land into the Sunday Market (Yekshanbeh Bazaar), where local sellers sold different goods ranging from fruit and vegetables to people’s everyday necessities. In 2011, the Sunday Market was moved to another location.
